Fleet Maintenance Mechanic

Travis County Fire Rescue Is accepting resumes for Fleet Maintenance Mechanic.

 

Under the supervision of the command staff, the Fleet Maintenance Mechanic performs repair and preventative maintenance duties on a wide variety of fire apparatus, vehicles, and equipment.  Assists Firefighters in instruction and usage of various fire and emergency medical services (EMS) equipment and gives instruction on various types of equipment repairs and maintenance.

Full time $31.25-36.05 (DOQ) 40 Hours a week.

Job Description

Repair and maintain heavy fire apparatus, such as pumpers, aerials, and rescue.

 

Repair and maintain light-heavy duty trucks, SUV's , and Ambulance including specialized systems.

 

Perform preventative maintenance and inspections on heavy truck chassis and fire components.

 

Perform major repairs on air brakes, fire pumps, aerials, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, Air conditioning systems.

 

Perform road tests on vehicles in order to diagnose, troubleshoot problems, and ensure proper repairs are completed.

 

Creates repair orders; accurately records time, details, and parts of repairs.

 

Perform safety inspections on heavy equipment vehicles.

 

Make mobile visits to stations and repairs in the field.

Job Qualifications
  • Emergency Vehicle Maintenance: 1 year (Required)

  • Diesel Mechanic: 3 years (Required)

  • Experience with gasoline and diesel fleet trucks and SUV's (Required)

  • Experience with Ambulance systems including Specialized air conditioning systems (Preferred)

  • EVT certifications preferred (Completion of classes is required) Please submit a list.

  • Must hold at least 3 EVT certifications by 1 year employment anniversary (Paid training with testing fees reimbursed upon proof of certification)

  • Diesel Mechanic Certification (Required)

  • Obtain at minimum Class B-Exempt drivers license within 6 months of employment

  • Must have own tools.

  • TCFR supplies the diagnostic laptop with a software license and a/c recovery machine.

  • Specialized tools will be purchased by TCFR on a case by case basis.
